Down With Love!

Lets throw the pieces of our broken hearts from the rooftops and shower the world with what we have learned!

We have all heard the saying, “it is better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all”; but have we really stopped to analyze this quote?  Or have we all had enough love and loss to simply agree and move along with our lives?  Sure, I can agree that it is “better to have loved”, because everyone should experience love once in their lives.  However, chances are, if you have loved, then you have indeed lost it also, which is the worst part of it all.  I don’t agree with people when they say, “love as often as you can”, because, why would we want to put ourselves through the pain of the breakup each time?  The question can be raised, are we masochists, that we keep doing this to ourselves?  I am a firm believer that you should love once, maybe twice and then be done with it.  Look at all of the quotes on love; they seem very one sided don’t they?  For example, “when you find someone who is worth taking the ride of life with, hold on tight and don’t let go”.  Well, what if they want to let you go?  Then what happens to you?  You are left, alone, in the carriage when the ride comes to a stop.  What if you are met with the reality that the person you are in love with does not love you back?  Love is fantastic, love is breathtaking and moment stealing, but most importantly, love is blind.  We somehow get a gigantic pair of rose colored glasses when we are in love and everything around us is wonderful.  Then, suddenly, our glasses are shattered and we are left looking out into the same world as everyone else, except this time, instead of walking on the pavement, we are walking on the shattered pieces of our heart, never actually putting the whole thing together again just how it was.  Me?  I am done with love.  From this moment forward, love will no longer be allowed to infiltrate my walls or trip the alarm system that is now set up in my heart.  I would rather walk on the grass and the pavement than try and sidestep the pieces that have been left scattered about after each heart break.  Down with love! I am declaring.  No more long, sleepless nights wondering what we did wrong or what we could have done differently.  No more worrying about hearing a song on the radio that will give us the urge to careen our cars off a cliff!  No more worrying about how we are to explain to our friends and relatives why we are showing up to the party alone.  Down with love!  Spread the message; your heart will thank you.
